Techno-logic Tuesday: Our top 5 reasons Connected Classrooms Rock!

If it’s been awhile since you have stepped into a classroom you have been missing out on how much has changed. Thanks to ever changing technology, students are able to learn in ways never before thought possible. Many of the communities we serve have some amazing technology at their schools, including some that have even gone to 1 to 1 programs (a connected device for every student). Here is Pinpoint’s top 5 reasons Connected Classrooms rock.

5. Diverse Learning Styles

Technology can help teachers reach students with the learning style that fits them best. Through technology, teachers can have an easier time developing lessons that incorporate all of the senses, ensuring that no student is left without a method that works for them. Teachers can also share information with each other through interactive videos, webinars and presentations to help share best practices.

4. Digital Text Books

Digital technology is the perfect example of killing two birds with one stone. Digital text books can help lower the costs of replacing books combined with the added advantage of being able to be updated quickly and effortlessly. Digital Texts can also include more dynamic content than a traditional book.

3. Always Connected

Students who are heavily involved in activities often miss a lot of classroom time. With changing technology students can learn at any time. Teachers can record lectures to be watched later and students can ask each other for help through online forums. Finding time to all meet up can be difficult but students can use programs like Google Docs to collaborate wherever they are. Parents can even be more connected to their students’ progress through new apps.

2. Travel anywhere without ever leaving the Classroom

Growing up there was a show on TV called The Magic School Bus. In this show the magic school bus could take students on amazing field trips to get in person views on whatever they were learning. Thanks to new technology, every classroom can be a magic school bus. Students can get an insider’s view on the human heart, travel back in time to the ancient coliseum, and build amazing robots that can actually work. This comes especially in handing in a time when schools are cutting back funding for actual field trips

1. Preparation for the Future

Many economists say that we are entering the digital economy. More and more jobs will be dependent on new technology. Students who begin working with the new technology and develop skills such as coding have the best chances for success. Connected classrooms are the only way to grow these skills in our students.
