Mission Monday: Pinpoint Makes Donations to Schools
In keeping with a yearly tradition, Pinpoint Communications’ and Cambridge Telephone Co.’s Executive Vice President, Tom Shoemaker, was pleased to distribute checks to both Southwest and Cambridge Public schools from proceeds accumulated during Pinpoint’s annual golf outing held each September and football tailgate parties held at a home game for each high school.
Every year as part of the Company golf outing, entry fees for several different golfing contests and mulligans are collected from contestants and then split between programs within each school. Also adding to the donation totals were funds collected from the sale of footballs for a halftime 50/50 football toss game at the tailgate events. This year, Don Ellicott was the winner of the football toss at Southwest and Kevin Banzhaf was the winner of the football toss at Cambridge. Each winner graciously donated back their proceeds to be included in the donation funds. Employees at Pinpoint and Cambridge Telephone also chipped in out of their Employee Activity fund to help round out the final number given to each school.
Southwest Public Schools Elementary Principal, Mrs. Kathy Latta, was on hand to receive the check from Shoemaker as a donation to their Backpack Program which helps ensure children at risk for undernourishment do not go hungry over the weekend. The donation to the Cambridge Public Schools, presented to Robert Gregory, Superintendent, and Jarod Albers, Principal, will be used to support a youth fund that helps cover a variety of expenses for students in need, such as computer use fees, sports physicals, and school supplies.
Pinpoint and Cambridge Telephone Co. are proud supporters of both of these schools and their programs. The company employees enjoy helping create successful events and look forward to helping make the annual donations each year.
